From the beginning Bennie was a part of B.F.F.A.R.
Post 1. He fought a lifelong battle with a very rare condition with the
help of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Bennie would travel
once a year to St. Jude for tests and a chance to have a little fun with
others that understood what he was dealing with. Bennie was a good
person, his feelings were tender and they got hurt very easily but he
always tried to get past things and be a part of everything he could.
Bennie loved playing video games and he loved his "gadgets"! Although he
became a sort of recluse he was still a part of B.F.F.A.R. and those of
us who knew him will miss him.
We hosted a Memorial Party and fundraiser for
Bennie Saturday July 31st 2pm...The money we raised went in part to his mother to help with the cost of mailing items to St. Jude's and all other money was donated in Bennie's name
to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
POST EVENT INFORMATION:
We started at a little after 2pm and ended at 5pm, Saturday July 31, 2010 There were personal checks made payable to St. Jude's in Memory of Ben totaling $141.43. The Chinese Auction that consisted of items that belonged to Bennie along with donated liquor, gift certificates and CHOCOLATE! raised $717.00 The Penne Bennie Pasta dish, donated by the club raised $80 The candy we sold raised $26 Bennie was in the process of paying back a loan we made when he purchased his scooter and there was $100 that we donated back to the benefit B.F.F.A.R. also donated an extra $35.57 to make it even. A total of $1,100.00 was raised, we gave Annette, Ben's Mom $200 so she could ship many of Ben's games and DVD's to St. Jude's so others at the hospital could enjoy them and help them pass the time during their treatments in Memory of Ben. B.F.F.A.R. sent a check for $758.57, with the personal check donations a total of $900 was sent to St. Jude's in Memory of Bennie!
